May 18-22, 2023, Morocco FLL Open International, Marrakesh
This is the team's last FLL event and definitely the most memorable FLL experience. It was the first time the team won a non-technical award. We were so honored to receive the Coopertition Award with our friends from Rwanda who we mentored, supported and competed against.
Coopertition is a key part of the vision of FLL: “Coopertition® produces innovation. Coopertition is displaying unqualified kindness and respect in the face of fierce competition. … [T]eams can and should help and cooperate with each other even as they compete. …Coopertition means competing always, but assisting and enabling others when you can.”
Our story was reported by our local media - Fig City News and Rwanda' News Media KT Press. The team was also recognized by the Department of Education at the State House for a successful FLL season.
The competition was more like a multi-cultural event than a robot competition. We made friends, exchanged culture, experienced Morocco and tried some amazing local food.
Last but not least, there were also robot matches.
